MAR_APR_64: returned from desertion 2/8/64. Tried by Court Martial Acquitted and returned to duty. Enlisted in Veteran Service 3/28/64 Descriptive Roll of a detachment of US Vols forwarded for the 7th Regt Kentucky Infantry. Dated 4/6/64 Born in Estill Co 20 yo Laborer Blue eyes light hair light complexion 5'6in tall Muster Out Baton Rouge la 3/11/66 Notation Records and Pension Office 7/19/1889 he was tried by a general court martial convened at Baton Rouge La. 2/23/64 on the charge of absence without leave. Found not guilty and acquitted. The proceedings and findings were disapproved in GO No 23 Hd Qrs Baton Rouge 3/26/64 and the soldier released and returned to duty. The charge of desertion of January 16, 1863 is removed but the record of the fact that he was absent from his command without any authority from January 18, 63 to February 8, 1864 cannot be expunged Illiterate at time of enlistment into Vet Vols, signed with his mark POW Record Captured at Richmond Ky 8/30/62 On register Head Quarters Cincin O. with remk stationed at Camp Wallace Ohio no fur rec'd Information Obtained from Records of Ex Vol 2, Page 114; vol3, page125; Mis vol 129 |
