NOV_DEC_62: Left in Hosp at Memphis TN 12/20/62 APRIL_10_63: Resigned at Memphis TN 3/1/63 on Surgeon's Certificate of Disability Notation: Records and Pension Office, War Dept 6/15/93 Under the provisions of the act of Congress, approved June 3, 1884, and the acts amendatory thereof, this officer is considered by this Department as commissioned to the grade of Captain, Co I, 7th Regt Kentucky Volunteers to take effect from September 5, 1861 to fill an original vacancy. Surgeon's Disability Claim US General Hospital No 1 Memphis TN February 10th 1863 I do certify that I have examined W.A. Dozier, Captain of Co I, 3rd Kentucky Inf vols and find that he is afflicted with a general nervous derangement chiefly manifested by constant irritation of the lumbar and sacral nerves of the spine and partial lameness of the lower extremities, the result of a Camp - typhoid fever, attacking him three months ago and which war of six weeks duration. Said Captain W.A. Dozier is also forty eight years old which taken in connection with deranged condition of the system totally unfits hum for the performance of military duty.
