joined by transfer from 22nd Ky 12/24/64 Resignation Letter: Clinton La Sept 13 1865 Major George Lee AAG Mil. Div. Of the Gulf Major, I have the honor to tender my resignation as Capt of comp'y A 7th Ky V.V.I for the following reasons. I have served in the army since October 1861. Over three years of which time I have been an officer. I received yesterday a telegraphic dispatch from my home in Kentucky notifying me that there is a Clerkship in Bank vacant and waiting for me. I can not obtain it unless I go home immediately. As there is both a first and second lieutenant present for duty with my company numbering 57 men present I can be easilly spared. I certify on honor that all my returns, both to the Quartermaster and Ordnance depts have been made out and forwarded at the proper times. That I am in debt to the Ordnance dept for articles short on my returns to the am't of $20.08 and to the Quartermaster Dept for a suim of less than $25.00 for articles lost. I further certify that I have been paid to include the 30th day of April 1865. W.W. Bacon, Captain Co. A 7th Ky V.V.I. |
