Samuel Buttery, a private of Company K 3rd Regt Ky Vol Infty, was with his company at Richmond Ky on the 30th day of August 1862 and in the battle that day he got seperated from his company and was fromit up to about the 20th December 1862 when he reported to Col Garrard in Kentucky.

Samuel Buttery, a private of Company K 3rd Regt Ky Vols, was with his company on the 30th of August but in the battle that day at Richmond Ky was seperated from the companyand he says he was trying to make his way back to the Gap but the rebel got in there before him and that he returned to his regt as soon thereafteras he could. He was absent from the 30thof August to 20th of December 1862.
